Study Lights Study Hack

You've seen them in every fashion store you've ever been in, but probably haven't noticed. We're talking about the track lights above the shelves with a row of suspended spot lamps focusing your attention on their products and away from empty space and other buyers.

It works like this: take a flashlight and spot it on something in your dorm room; now turn off the lights. Where do your eyes keep drifting to? Using spot lamps to illuminate key "hot" areas and leave unimportant areas in shadow is a time honored sales technique which pulls your concentration onto important areas like magnets and away from unimportant areas left in shadow.

You can harness this study concentration hack by doing the same thing to yourself. Get a desk lamp and focus it on the center of the work area of your study table. Then dim the lights around you and watch the magic happen.

Stop Feeling SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) with Light

Another cool study hack with light is for those unlucky Crammers who have to study through winter. The loss of sunshine during winter can lead to diminished happy chemicals in your brain - called Seasonal Affective Disorder. This depression can lead to a loss of study motivation and slide in grades.

The solution is simple. Switch out your ordinary study lamp bulb for a SAD bulb. These bulbs mimic the spectrum of sunlight fooling your brain that you're actually on a sunny beach in California while you study away. So your brain cranks out happy neurotransmitters keeping your mood buoyant during crummy weather keeping your grades something to smile about.

Needs a SAD study lamp right now?
